What’s your favorite part of your job?
The best part of my job is working with so many different people. Every day, I get the chance to work with various cultures. Being bilingual allows me to effectively communicate and be on a more personal level with our roofing crews. I enjoy meeting the homeowners and getting to know a little about them. I feel good when I can walk away from a satisfied customer knowing they are pleased with our services and refer their friends and family.
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I grew up in our family dental lab business which was started in 1965 by my Grandfather. I started working at age 11. My family taught me good morals and values that I still carry today and have passed along to my children. Working in the roofing industry has given me the opportunity to travel and work in many parts of the United States. I lived in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, MX and traveled throughout the Republic of Mexico with my children. I met my girlfriend and her 3 girls while working in Minnesota a few years ago. We moved to Georgia almost 2 years ago. We are a blended family with 7 children. The oldest is in his 2nd year of college in San Antonio and the youngest in Kindergarten. I am passionate about sports, with Basketball being #1….Go SPURS Go!!!
Favorite gift as a kid?
My favorite gift is the opportunity my parents provided me as a kid to be involved with sports. I started playing sports when I was 3 years old. I ran track, played soccer, golf, baseball, and of course basketball. Growing up I played in different leagues, such as AAU, SBOA, and various summer and winter leagues.
Favorite family tradition?
My favorite family tradition is spending the holidays with my family in South Tx. My Grandmother Gutierrez always made the relleno (Mexican stuffing) for Thanksgiving dinner and my Grandmother Flores would cook the turkey and ham. At Christmas we always made tamales, menudo, and Bunuelos and would go walking to the Alamo & Riverwalk to enjoy the Christmas Lights and after Midnight Mass at the San Fernando Cathedral downtown SA TX.
My dream vacation would be to visit Europe. I would love to go to the vineyard’s and wine country in Italy and eat real Italian food like my Mother cooks. I would love to go to Rome to see the Basilica of Saint Mary Maggiore and Pisa to see the Leaning Tower. Of course go to Greece and see the Parthenon and cant leave without visiting the Eiffel Tower and stroll down to the Stonehenge and Windsor Castle in the UK.
I sang with Mariachis multiple times at NIOSA (Night in Old San Antonio) a 4 night festival in the heart of downtown SAN ANTO that celebrates our city’s diverse cultural legacy for more than 85,000 revelers annually. I have also sang with The Desperadoz and David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales y el famoso Ramon Ayala Y Los Bravos del Norte. Singing es Mi Pasion!!!!
My dream achievement is to continue to be a positive role model for my children. I enjoy watching them grow and explore their individual talents and uniqueness’s. I know someday they will all be successful in their own lives and I will take pride in knowing that I was part of the person they are growing up to be.
