When replacing your roof due to storm damage from wind or hail, an important thing to consider is the type of warranty your new roof will have. There are many types of warranties available, and you should make sure you understand what is covered with the warranty you are being offered. The responsibility of securing a contractor who offers warranties falls to the homeowner, not the insurance company, so be sure to do your due diligence before signing a roof replacement contract. Below are some of the warranty options you may find.
This type of warranty covers the labor cost only. The cost of materials is not covered by a labor warranty.
An Installation warranty covers any roof defects due to improper installation.
Material warranties ensure that the materials installed on your roof are free from manufacturer defects or are replaced if manufacturer defects are found. They do not protect against faulty installation.
